My Rock, My Fortress, My Deliverer
This past year, we went through Manitou Springs and visited Garden of the Gods. While crawling around the rocks, I squeezed into this crevice between the rocks and began to crawl further in between the rock formation. Alone. Hidden.
Yes there were others walking about and if they were to look inside the rock, they would see this grown, 28-year old man enjoying the view and learning yet another aspect of God
That phrase “horn of salvation” is referring to his defense. A buckler is his shield. A high tower is once again a place of hiding.
I can hide myself in him. I can trust in him. Even though my flesh shakes in fear, I can know he will keep as long as I remain diligent to follow his word and find myself in him.
How I long for his shelter and protection! How thankful I am for it! And to look out and see the world from the viewpoint of the cleft in the rock... just another lesson from the side of the mountain.

“For in the time of trouble he shall hide me in his pavilion: in the secret of his tabernacle shall he hide me; he shall set me up upon a rock.”
Psalms 27:5 KJVI felt wrapped and secure. I could look in detail at the rock face. I could study it’s subtle nuances. And, likewise, I could look out and have a perfectly framed view of what was before me. I was hidden from the world around me.
He is my Rock: a firm, solid place. He is also my fortress: a place designed for strength. He is also my deliverer: animate, willing strength. God is not only unwavering. Not only is he purposefully a place of strength. But he is MY DELIVERER. He is willing to offer strength.“The Lord is my rock, and my fortress, and my deliverer; my God, my strength, in whom I will trust; my buckler, and the horn of my salvation, and my high tower.”Psalms 18:2 KJV
